Frequently Asked Questions
What area do you cover in Île-de-France?
We cover the entire Île-de-France region: Paris (all arrondissements), Val-de-Marne (94), Hauts-de-Seine (92), Seine-Saint-Denis (93), Seine-et-Marne (77), Yvelines (78), Essonne (91) and Val-d'Oise (95). The valuation visit is free throughout the region.
What is the difference between using an antique dealer and a house clearer?
A standard house clearer charges for their service without distinguishing the value of the objects. Maison Lefèvre, an antique dealer since 1955, values each antique object before clearing: this allows us to give value to what is worth something and to reduce, or even eliminate, the cost of the clearance.
How does a probate estate clearance work?
The clearance is organised in several stages: a free initial visit to value the furniture, then the clearance from cellar to attic. The objects purchased are deducted from the cost. The rest is sorted between recycling, landfill disposal (Veolia) and donations to charities (Approche, Emmaüs).
Can an estate clearance be free of charge?
Yes, this happens frequently. The cost of a clearance depends on the balance between the value of the antiques we purchase and the time required to empty the property. When the value of the objects covers the cost of the service, the clearance is free, or even works out in your favour.
What happens to furniture that is not purchased?
Furniture and objects without market value are sorted: some goes to recycling, some is donated to partner charities (Approche in Saint-Maur, Emmaüs) and the remainder is disposed of at a landfill via Veolia. Nothing is left behind.
Do you cover other regions of France?
Yes. For family homes in other regions (Normandy, Burgundy, Centre-Val de Loire, etc.), we can travel depending on the situation. Contact us to discuss the feasibility of an intervention together.
